Dutch Treat Strain Review | Blue Roots Cannabis

Dutch Treat by Blue Roots Cannabis is known to provoke a euphoric, happy, and uplifted high while keeping the user in a relaxed physical state thanks to its Northern Lights and Haze parents.

This strain is another cultivar with a mysterious lineage that is commonly believed, despite its name, to have been bred by a PNW grower named “Jordan of the Islands” on Vancouver Island. It is thought to be a cross between Northern Lights and Haze, which is what Blue Roots also designates on the jar.

The name Dutch Treat is derived from the fact that this strain is so popular in the Netherlands, where cannabis has been liberated since 1976, and the name “Dutch Treat” was born and stuck.

Blue Roots Cannabis was founded in 2013 with the purpose of providing  top-shelf cannabis products. Produced and processed in a state-of-the-art facility using only the highest-quality, small-batch flower.

Dutch Treat Strain Review

Changing my review scoring once again to match industry standards, I promise no more changes. AAAA – Best of the Best, AAA – Top Shelf Quality, A – Still top quality, could use improvement, B – Mid Grade, lots of areas to improve on, but overall still smoke-able weed, C – Dirt or Brick Weed, tastes like yard waste but still gets you kind of high, likely with a headache, D – Not even worth mentioning, probably Oregano.

Appeal: AAAA – I am a huge fan of Blue Roots packaging. The nice glass tube jars give high visibility to the bud, and the labeling provides adequate information for the consumer to have a general idea of what the strain can provide. The bud itself is beautiful, a true representation of the PNW where this was supposedly created. The leaves reach out at you, covered in crystals that reveal their precious nectar once ground up. This bud, once ground, is old school sticky, like gums your grinder up sticky.

Aroma: AAA – The aroma from the jar was very muted and herbal, with a slight hint of limonene and myrcene. Once you grind this up, the bud explodes with aroma and flavor. All the citrus, mango, and piney smells waft through your nostrils like an enticing perfume, practically challenging you not to smoke it.

Flavor: AAAA – The lemon and mango flavors dance around in your mouth and nostrils like a pair of flamenco dancers, dazzling your senses.

Effects: AAA – The effects of Dutch Treat are a great, mellow, but engaging high that is unlike any other I have experienced; I just wish it would have lasted longer.

Estimated Length of Effects: 2-3 Hours

Overall Score: AAA

The Final Puff

Dutch Treat is a favorite, and for good reason. It’s flavorful, aromatic, and just dang pretty to look at. Blue Roots, in my humble opinion, does a phenomenal representation of this cultivar, and being someone who has smoked Dutch Treat in Amsterdam, I feel that means something.

Medicinally, this strain has a lot to offer, as noted in the terpene profile. The overall high was great; I just didn’t want it to end, but that is what trips to the “den” are for. The bud was so sticky on the interior that it gummed up the grinder, which, to be honest, with all the fast curing going on these days, is a rare thing.

Blue Roots dried and cured Dutch Treat properly, and it shows. You should make your way to White Rabbit Cannabis to pick some up soon, as spring is upon us and this is a strain I feel is perfect this time of year.
