Old School Lemons Strain Review | Show Cannabis

Old School Lemons (OSL), a sour lemon treat by Show Cannabis, can trace its lineage to Thailand, Nepal, Afghanistan, and India. This strain has got more old-school clout than James Dean himself. But lineage isn’t everything, and we are here to find out what this cultivar delivers in both flavors and effects, and why you, the consumer, should get your hands on it.

Appearance and Aroma

This one was a treat to review, not just because I love reviewing weed, but because this thing was quite literally a treat! Opening the bag gave a waft of fresh lemon orchards, with just a hint of sour pine in the nose. The buds, while not your picturesque big fluffy nugs that so many are drawn to, were still slightly spongy, not over-cured, and ground up quite nicely without clogging up my grinder. The aroma spills out even more on grinding these up. At a certain famous land of the mouse in California, there is a ride where you soar over orchards. This scent is very reminiscent of that and takes me back to the last time I visited there.

Flavor and Effects

The lemony citrus bite does not stop at the aroma. A deep pull on my vaporizer reveals a citrus overtone that dances devilishly in the mouth and, upon the exhale, reveals the sour lemon undertones that the aroma suggested so heavily. This one was so good that I had to take a few more pulls off of it as it had an amazing, refreshing flavor that I really could not get enough of.

The high started between my shoulder blades and a slow creep up into my neck, back of my head, and then settled behind my eyes. It also continued sinking down into my lower back and through the body. My mind was awakened with things to do, and focus came easily. As did happiness and the ability to interact with people in a more relaxed manner. As I suffer from social anxiety, this is a welcome effect.

This is an energizing strain, but not so much that you can’t enjoy it late in the afternoon and then fall asleep at bedtime.

The Final Puff

Final Score: 4.75 out of 5 Stars

Appearance: 4-Not the prettiest to look at, but certainly not the worst. The buds were spongy and not overly dry, so that is a good thing.
Aroma: 5-The fresh aroma of lemon grove goodness is so enticing, you cannot wait to smoke it once you have inhaled the citrus goodness.
Flavor: 5-Equally as good as the aroma, full of citrus flavor with a sour lemon exhale.
Effects: 5-This creeps up and down your spine, settling in the head, and it comes on fairly quickly and lasts for quite some time.

Old School Lemons is a great wake and bake strain, a great mid-day pick me up, and a great I am ready to go out and have a good night strain. Make no mistake, it is a Sativa dominant hybrid in every sense of the word. It can energize and engage your mind. It can also provide the added benefit of dulling any discomfort you may feel, lifting your mood, and increasing your appetite. Personally, having smoked Super Lemon Haze before, I prefer Old School Lemons. However, cannabis is like wine in that user preference is subjective. Either you like it and you are right, or you don’t like it and you are still right. There is much more lemon kick to it, and it has a more balanced energizing effect for me. Clocking in at 22% THC isn’t too bad of a deal either.
