Chocolate OG Strain Review | El Ella
Chocolate OG is a classic strain. El Ella delivers the goods!
Chocolate OG Strain Review | El Ella
Chocolate OG, an Indica cultivar that just sounds enticing, flavorful, and slightly cooler than the other kids because it is OG (Old School is the Only School). This strain I am reviewing is by the grower/producer El Ella, which is an i502 producer under the Canna Verde umbrella of products from the eastern side of the mountains. I’ve seen Chocolate OG with both Hybrid and Indica leanings; this version by El Ella that I am reviewing today, however, is all Indica.
Lineage
There is more to the full lineage of this cultivar, as with any strain, and there may be differences depending on the grower. I provide a high-level overview with some details to allow the reader to get an idea of where a strain derives from, as well as what other cultivars to try should they be curious or not find the specific strain being reviewed.
Terpenes & Cannabinoids
The user’s experience may differ. These are user reports of their experiences and an explanation of terpenes and their purported effects from scientific studies, not medical claims. Remember that terpene and cannabinoid profiles can also change from grower to grower and crop to crop. Terpene levels below .05% are not listed, as while they may still have some effect on the experience, compared to the other terpenes they are likely to be masked or work in conjunction with. All terpene information was obtained from https://labeffects.com/terpene-glossary-source-citations.

Scores
I review on a 10-point system. Simply because I do not think five is enough to show distinctions between different reviewed products, but it is running with a 10-point system that allows certain aspects of the reviewed product to shine when other areas do not and can potentially effect the overall score. It is also for this reason that I do not go with more than a 10-point system because I think it can become overly complicated. We are all partakers; complexity is never a good thing.
Appearance: 9 – Dense, light green, with dark orange/brown hairs. Nice trichome growth on the bud. Light resinous feel once ground up, ground bud sticks together nicely.
Aroma: 9 – Sweet, almost dark chocolate aroma, with a light hint of gas.
Flavor: 9 – Sweet, cookie, dark chocolate, gassy flavor. Very good through dry herb vape, surprisingly smooth and flavorful through a water pipe as well.
Effect: 10 – IN DA COUCH… or GO TO BED. Quite literally a full body relaxation, albeit mind was wandering for a bit but eventually settled down. Beware of your fridge however when waiting for the mind to settle, because this cultivar seems to have the ability to invigorate your appetite. Good for those that need that effect, not so good for those such as myself who’s appetites need a little less invigoration.
Overall: 9.25 out of 10 – Great cultivar to keep in the arsenal!
Final Puff of Chocolate OG
I love doing reviews of budget shelf product, because it is often things people will pass up on because they are “unsure”, or if it is not in top shelf its not “fire” enough. My faithful reader you could not be any more wrong. Just because something is “budget” does not mean it is bad or not comparable to top shelf flower. There are many factors that go into determining the cost of a product that are outside of retailers control.
Everything in our store, whether top, budget, cartridge, edible, etc… Has to pass through a couple budtenders hands and rated. Someone in the store thought it was good enough to put on our shelves, therefore the potential for finding your new favorite brand/strain is in every purchase. Chocolate OG is another budget friendly strain that hits that mark. It sneaks up on you at 22% THC, no real CBD to mention, but the overall body high effects can potentially relieve your tension, stress, and provide a full body relaxation that when the time is right and the mind does settle down from the more psychoactive effects, it should provide a good relaxing bedtime.
This is not a strain you should sleep on, or rather, it is (pun intended). At the very least you may end up sitting on the couch watching stoner movies all night whilst shoving copious amounts of junk food in your mouth. From a medical point of view this may provide overall pain relief body wise, stress and tension relief, and an overall sense of well being. Fun wise this is going to provide a giggly, super relaxed, couch lock experience that will have you running to the fridge and likely to bed before too long.

Other great strains to try!
